My son was involved in a scrum collapse whilst playing rugby on Saturday. He was taken from Leyland Rugby Club to your hospital by ambulance. I drove up from St.Helens and was at the hospital to meet the ambulance.
I would like to personally thank all those involved in his care from the ambulance team to the nurses, x-ray staff, doctors and even the porters drafted in to lift a very big immobilised lad from stretcher to bed.
The care he received was excellent with the upmost precautions being taken for a potential neck injury. Despite the gravity of the situation, the communication to both of us was at all times reassuring whilst being both friendly and informative.
We were still in the ER when the shift changed and both shifts deserve the same praise as the changeover was seamless.
Fortunately for us, there were no fractures and he was able to walk out of the ER under his own steam - getting some good natured banter for the state of the bedding from his extremely muddy kit and the fact he should play "proper rugby " - League not Union.
Thank you one and all.
Regards
"Thank you to all in the ER"
