"Awaiting surgery"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as the patient),

Seen neurosurgeons in May, was advised I would have surgery on brain or spine dependent on results. Referred for an MRI, which I had in July. It then took over 3 months for the scan to be reported, despite being given a 6 week timescale.

Now being passed from pillar to post and delay after delay with no acceptable excuse or apology.

Dear Abandonedpatient,

I was very sorry to read your feedback and the poor experience you have had following your consultation in May. I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to you on behalf of the service for the delays and lack of communication.

Please could I invite you to make contact with Karen Parker our waiting list manager on 0141 232 7826 so we can look into this further for you.

Kind Regards

Elaine Burt

Update posted by Abandonedpatient (the patient)

Thank you Ms Burt, however the delay is with my neurosurgeon now, the wait has been 3 months for my MRI results which isnt their fault, but now the decision is taking lengthy delays to decide next course of action.

So waiting list wont be of any assistance to me until the surgeon decide if its brain or spine surgery I need.

Thank you for your reply. If you could get in touch with Karen from the waiting list it would let the local managers determine which Consultant you are under and they can investigate what is going on for you. Karen covers all the surgical specialties in INS.

Regards

Elaine
