"Broken wrist"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Trauma & orthopaedics (wards 26, 27, 61 & 62 ) Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Accident & Emergency Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a service user),

I tripped on a curb in early August and broke my wrist. I arrived at Inverclyde Royal Hospital’s ED department where I was seen and assessed promptly, first by an ED doctor and then by Orthopedics. Surgery was required so I was referred to GRI (as it was closer home) after all my immediate needs were attended to. I had contact with the trauma coordinators, who helped to organised my admission to the ward a few days later. The staff on the ward looked after me particularly well, and I went to surgery that afternoon under Mr Torkington and his team. Thanks are also due to the anaesthetic team, plus reception, theatre and recovery staff for their efforts, of which I have limited memory of. I was discharged later that evening, with thanks to Natasha’s for her efforts in facilitating that. I have had 3 reviews with the nurse specialist at outpatient clinic who have helped to get my wrist back in working order. I am please to report I am now back to my usual activities, back to work and continuing to see improvement in the strength of the joint. Every individual I have met has provided me with excellent care and attention, for which I am very grateful and would ask that my thanks are passed on

Dear JFr4ser,

So sorry to hear of your accident and broken wrist in August. It must have been a worrying time for you but I'm glad to hear that you were well looked after by the teams in ED and Orthopaedics at Inverclyde Royal Hospital. It's reassuring that they were able to organise with their colleagues in the North of Glasgow for your care to be transferred closer to home for you at GRI.

I'm pleased to hear that your surgery and after care went well and shall ensure that your lovely, kind comments are passed on to those you have mentioned.

Thank you for taking the time to post feedback regarding your experience as it is very much appreciated by all the teams.

Kind Regards

Heather
