"They gave us a lifeline"

About: Change Grow Live / Spectrum - Hertfordshire Drug & Alcohol Services

(as a carer),

We accessed CGL in crisis as my Brother was out of control with Alcohol. We were at then end of our tether and didn't know where to turn. Spectrum gave us a lifeline. We were put in touch with the carers support group. We met a lovely lady call Siobhan who told us it wasn't all about my brother - that we matter too. She taught us about what being an addict is about and how we should communicate. We met with a group of people who had similar experiences. Life is still not easy but knowing that we are not the only people going through it helps. I would fully recommend this type of support for carers

Hi,

Thanks so much for telling your story. I'm glad that Siobhan could give you the support you needed and it's great to hear that being with people in similar situations has already helped with your own wellbeing.

Siobhan will be delighted to hear this.

Please don't hesitate to let us know how you get on going forward.

Sam
