"Plenty of care and compassion"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / General Medicine (Wards 9-12)

(as a volunteer/advocate),

Ward 14

Nurses have been great, help is given without any problem; nothing is too much for them; communication is good, doctors and nurses have kept me informed with everything

Plenty of care and compassion from the nurses

Lights are on at night at midnight, 1am when there is no need, I have spoken to the nurses about the lights they said they would pass it on, the noise at night is ok

The food is absolutely abismal; omelettes are made with potatoes, I would like to see a better choice for patients that can’t eat much for example smaller plates of food or sandwiches

Ward is spotless cleaners are available throughout the day

Dear Uhh144 (as a volunteer/advocate),

I am pleased to hear that you received good care during your admission to University Hospital Hairmyres and that you found the ward clean.

I am sorry to hear your comments about the food during your stay. We ensure that our meals are appetising and meet all nutritional requirements. Unfortunately for various reasons this is not always to each patients taste. This could be as a result of medication, medical condition or a patients personal choices. If a patient has an issue with a meal we are happy for the catering department to meet with you and discuss your concerns.

I will pass your comments to our catering team.

Kind regards

William

Dear Uhh144,

Thank you for posting the thoughts and concerns of our patients. I can see that the comments regarding Catering are being looked at by William.

I will be sharing the lovely care comments with staff but also the time that lights are left on at night as this seems rather late although I'm sure you have raised this during your visit to patients on the ward.

Kind Regards

Gwen
