"Staff are over worked"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / General Medicine (Wards 9-12)

(as a volunteer/advocate),

Ward 11

A lot of the staff are over worked because I can see that they start something then get called away and then have to go back to it there are not enough cleaners they work very hard. Staff have to multi task

Communication is very good I’m kept right up to speed with everything that goes on,

Staff are caring and compassionate; when my pain gets bad they get medication straight away or as quickly as possible

Communication seems to have increased over the years and there is lots and lots of paperwork

The food isn’t great, sometimes when you are unwell you don’t want a huge slice of quiche it is off putting when a large meal is put in front of you when you don’t really feel like eating; the food is too repetitive a fortnightly menu change would be good, there is no variety, the soup is good,

The staff are good with partner; asking if they are ok and getting the right support, there is good banter with nurses they speak to me on a personal level

Dear UHH142

Thank you for taking the time to send us your comments following your recent admission to Ward 11. I am very pleased to hear that staff were attentive and treated you and your partner with care and compassion.

Multi-tasking is generally how we all work on a day to day basis and whilst this may appear to be difficult it is the nature of the environment which we work, that being said I will pop in and speak to the staff regarding this as their wellbeing is very important to me.

With regards to food I will pass your comments onto my colleagues in PSSD, they are generally very good at seeking feedback and making changes on the back of this.

Hope you are feeling better.

Kind Regards

Angela
