"Patient with PMR"

About: Gosberton Medical Centre

In 2019 the patient was suffering generalised aches and pains in the shoulder/neck area but had been generally feeling tired and worn out for some time. In June of that year she approached the practice with these symptoms and after a telephone conversation with a Doctor that same day saw a second Doctor who was conversant with her symptoms and came to the same diagnosis as the first. Within a day a prescription for prednisolone was indicating the likelihood of PMR as the symptoms were much alleviated. Since then a continuing programme of consultation involving telephone contact and surgery visits is proving to be very effective. Regular blood tests of a relevant nature are planned The patient feels involved and also that the practitioners have real empathy and understanding of the problem. The patient is responding to the treatment and is very pleased by the speedy and capable response to this current situation.

On a more general level, the patient and her husband have found that there is always a ready and speedy response to any telephone inquiry and efforts are made to minimise travel to the surgery as it is some four miles distant and prescriptions are readily and effectively transmitted to the local pharmacy for collection cutting out the need for a journey.

The general appearance and feel of the surgery is very open and welcoming with friendly and helpful staff throughout. Consulting rooms are well laid out and easily accessible. There is a warm welcome for the patients and those accompanying them.
