"Attitudes to change"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton)

I was brought to A&E in Musgrove Park Hospital in a suicidal crisis. I felt the nurse and consultant were in my view critical of my condition. I was discharged without support and they thought it fine for me to walk across town in the early hours of the morning at night feeling this way. I consider this to have been appropriate as I was later taken back to A&E in a far worse state. I would like A& E to have more training for their staff about mental health so they can help others in a crisis.

I am sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience in A&E.As the lead nurse I take your concerns seriously and would like the opportunity to meet so we can learn from this. Please contact the PALS department if you think this is something you can do. I would like to reassure you that we consider mental health just as important as physical health. We also work closely with the mental health team for which training is provided by them for our staff. It saddens me to read your story and I hope you are getting the help you need.
