"Gone Downhill"

About: Old Coulsdon Medical Practice

Unfortunately this GP surgery has gone downhill. A few years ago, most of the staff were quite good. But, unfortunately, that is no longer the case. There seems to be a general lack of caring. For example, on a recent visit to have a flu vaccine, upon requesting an alcoholic swab, before the needle was put into my arm: instead, the nurse dabbed my arm with a paper towel which she had put under the tap. There also seems to be an attitude of always being in a hurry and behaving as though I am being a nuisance. The GP almost laughed at me, when I asked for tablets to help me to stop drinking alcohol. He showed no sympathy or empathy for my situation, but, instead decided to have a laugh and a dig at my expense. He was in a hurry and did not have time to ask me why I was drinking. His general attitude towards me was that I was being a nuisance and that I was wasting his time. Unfortunately, this is the attitude of most of the staff at this Practice. If you want good old fashioned "Care in the Community" with doctors who behave as though they actually care about your well-being, you need to get hold of a time-machine and travel back about 20 years. I still remember what it was like to visit a real, caring doctor, who cared about you as an equally important fellow human being. Unfortunately, those doctors are now few and far between, if they even exist any more. Now, it's all about money and how many times you have visited the GP surgery during the past year. How many times you have asked for treatment, referrals, medication, etc. They don't care about your well-being.
