"Experience of heart bypass operation"

About: Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Cardiac Surgery

(as the patient),


I was a patient at the Golden Jubilee and had a triple heart bypass in July 2019.  I was in Ward 3 East for a week and I just wanted to say a very big thank you to all the staff including the doctors, nurses, physios, receptionists and care assistants - they were all brilliant.  I had first class care from everybody involved from initial pre-ops to discharge.  Thank you everyone. 

( a very minor negative was the windows not being allowed to be open due to building works which made it very hot for patients and staff)

Dear Peter61,

Thank you for taking the time to write your kind compliments on Care Opinion. It was lovely to read that the team were all brilliant, please be assured I will pass this onto the Cardiac team, as they strive to provide the highest quality of care to patients and will be delighted to read you post.

We took the decision to close the windows due to the building work as you aware. This was to protect our patients from possible infection, as measures to reduce the spread of dust generated during construction. We do recognise this may lead to discomfort in warm weather and we are very sorry for this. Measures within the hospital have been put in place to attempt to alleviate the heat.
