"Radiotherapy parking"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Radiotherapy

(as a relative),

This Morning I took my Grandmother for her Radiotherapy appointment. Grandmother had been given a parking pass to park on the blue hatched area on the hill between Radiotherapy and AMH.

This is to enable her to attend her appointments without having to worry about parking and reduce the journey to and from the clinic. At this point in her treatment such amenities are vital, owing to tiredness as a result of treatment.
This morning, and on previous mornings the same Roofing contractors van was parked in this area. This was clearly a maintenance worker as items were being taken from the van to do a job.
Today we were able to park in this area, thankfully. Yesterday however, we were not and had to use the multi-storey car park, which is some distance away for them. This is causing my Grandmother and Grandfather a great deal of stress, during what is already a testing time for them both. I found this to be  very inconsiderate on the contractors part, as the area is very clearly labelled. I feel that this should be addressed promptly.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience of difficulties parking close to the radiotherapy department. I understand that this would increased the stress of yourself and grandparents at an already stressful time in your lives. We do have dedicated parking for attendance at the radiotherapy department and I am really sorry that this has not been available to you when you have needed it.

I have shared your experience and concerns with the departments responsible for both facilities and contractors parking onsite, explaining how important it is that patients undergoing radiotherapy gain access to parking in close proximity to the department.

Please accept our sincere apologies.
