I have nothing but excellence to say for the staff, doctors and consultants on the intensive care unit who saved my life.
I was found unconscious after being sent away from A&E without proper care from a mental health crisis and very nearly lost my fight for life due to this and not being given appropriate help.I feel the staff in A&E at Musgrove Park need more training about mental health issues as a good number of people attend in crisis who use it as a last resort, may be needlessly made to feel they should not be there.Attitudes really need to change, as people are being viewed as a nuisance and being told to go home. MPH are way behind in this area and when the crisis team were called they rarely came to see me or talk to me and sent home with no follow up leaving me as a service user in a more distraught state after waiting many hours in a crowded waiting room being totally ignored even when the waiting room becomes empty, in the early hours. They lacked understanding, were uncaring, showed zero compassion and treated me like a leper. It should not be happening in this day and age when mental health is a recognised diagnosis from which many people suffer from. The A&E staff at Musgrove need to change their attitudes from management down. Not good.
