We felt very let down when my mum was discharged from ward 2.
She was moved into a sitting area, left alone, her bed stripped and her belongings bagged up in plastic bags and left in corridor.
Her care on admission was so different. She was treated respectfully and with kindness.
Discharge planning is an essential part of Nursing care. My mother was making a major transition from rehabilitation to a care home. The staff showed no compassion or kindness to my mother or myself on discharge.
I appreciate that nursing staff have essential duties and care to attend to.
I am hoping that discharging a patient is part of the care plan.
I also hope that no patient or relative has a similar experience again.
