Felt demoralised, demeaned and minimised by a doctor that I felt could not realise issues relating to alcohol due to personal beliefs regarding alcohol.
I went into his surgery wearing ripped jeans and was told that they were not an alcohol advisory service and go to TurningPoint in Croydon for help.
I tried to explain to him that I had been there many times before and this was a slight glitch that I needed help to get over.
He reiterated that I needed to go back without clarifying whether or not I even hold down a full time job.
TurningPoint works well when you have enough time to go there but I now work for one of the largest investment banks in London.
I very nearly went under a bus after this meeting as the depression was nearly unbearable but I have taken some good from this now.
I will now ensure that young people without jobs going through TurningPoint are never faced with this archaic, self righteous and very dangerous type of apparent help for health.
We need to eradicate this type of help as 'No help what so ever' and I intend to do that now.
Best,
"Unable to relate to alcohol related health issues"
