My dad was brought into hospital at the end of August, initially through Majors. He was on several wards over the weeks until he was transferred to Byron Ward at the end of September.
From the very start on being on Byron Ward, the level of care he received was of a very high standard. All the staff in the ward were friendly, helpful and caring towards him, whilst continuing to work tirelessly for all the patients, many of whom had high dependency needs. At all times he was treated with dignity and respect. Even in his final days, the level of care did not diminish; if anything, it intensified. Unfortunately, despite the care provided, Dad passed away a week after arriving on Byron Ward. Even after he had passed away and while still on the ward, he was treated with dignity and respect, as a person and not just another patient coming onto and off of the ward.
A huge thanks to everyone for the care Dad received, with particular thanks to Chelsea who was new to the ward but showed true compassion towards my Dad, making him smile and capturing for us one of his last smiles. Chelsea - thank you. You will go far.
"Excellent level of care whilst on Byron Ward"
