"Appalling service that should be scrapped"

About: Healthshare Ltd

I have an ongoing long-term physical condition and have been referred to the Healthshare service twice by my GP clinic under the assumption that they will provide specialist care including scans and referrals to Rheumatologists. On both occasions I have been farmed off to physiotherapists who to not have the prior knowledge of my physical condition and can only provide exercises not diagnose and investigate new symptoms.

Prior to my recent visit, I had a telephone consultation with a senior clinician who seemed to understand the complexities of my condition and booked me in for a 1-hour physical assessment. They additionally included in the notes that am interested in ongoing classes. I'm not sure where these notes end up as the physiotherapist had no knowledge of this and more crucially I wasn't seen for an hour but only 20 minutes. The Newton Road clinic itself is in an incredibly poor condition, there's a thin curtain separating you from other patients and you can very clearly overhear incredibly personal and confidential conversations.

At my recent visit, the physiotherapist didn't even assess my body, despite me clearly stating that my shoulders were swollen and that my joints have been crunching and popping - I find this incredibly alarming. When I mentioned that my joints have started giving way, the advice I was given was to "avoid risk of falls because they are bad". I also mentioned that I could no longer sleep through the night due to pain and was advised to "try to get some sleep because it helps you feel refreshed the next day". I was provided with approximately 15 exercises that the Physiotherapist sped through really quickly without providing me with any written information on the exercises (previously these were emailed to me, but as it's now been 24 hours I don't expect to receive these). It's a really poor service, especially if you have any long-term conditions and I feel incredibly disheartened having had to wait for so long for some help and support. It's such a deep shame that the GP has to go through the service when it is not equipped to help.
