"The nurses are very caring"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / General Surgery (Ward 5)

(as a volunteer/advocate),

Nurses very attentive. Don’t really need buzzer during day as nurses are always in and out to check how we are doing. Nurses very caring and cope well with difficult patients. Buzzers answered fairly quickly at night. Staff on shorter supply then. Medication arrives on time during day, but can take a while at night. Family happy with care received. Doctor round every morning. Doctors explained condition and road ahead. Patient feels comfortable to ask doctors questions.

Nurses informed of unclean toilet and this was cleaned immediately. .

Dear Uhh104

Thank you for your recent post on Care Opinion. I will be delighted to pass on to the Nursing and Medical Staff in Ward 6, that you felt they were attentive, caring and communication was very good from the team.

The staffing does drop on night duty however this is reviewed on a daily basis at the surgical huddle and additional staff given if required. The team in Ward 6 strive to deliver the best person centred care to all patients.

Hope you are recovering well from your recent admission to hospital.

Thank you

Kind Regards

Karen
