I would just like to say a huge thank you to the staff working within Theatres and the Maternity Ward in Causeway Hospital for taking such great care of me during my stay in November 2018.
I had a planned C-Section but was still very nervous even though I had had one before. The anaesthetist (a lady from the south of Ireland) was amazing and so informative about everything she was doing. She really made me feel safe and helped calm my nerves as did the surgeon.
To the Theatre Nurse who held my hand when the anaesthetist was administering my epidural... thank you for making me feel safe and again helping to calm my nerves.
The midwives (Martha and Lesley) taking care of me that night and the night after were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. My baby cried a lot and I needed help to lift her out of her crib at times because I was a bit sore. A lovely health care assistant took her for a short while to try and settle her so I could get some rest.
The staff also supported me with breast feeding and checking that me little one was latched on right. The breast feeding peer support was great following my discharge home and really helped me to continue even when it got quite tough. 10 months on and we're still going.
What a fantastic job you all do!
