I have been going through the process of IVF with Guys for 18 months now and the lack of communication from the hospital throughout this process has been appalling, causing me so much unnecessary stress I feel it has probably impacted the likelihood of my IVF success.
Emails are often ignored or responded to much later than within the promised 5 working days, usually resulting in you having to chase the hospital for a response. Calls are then rarely returned or returned much much later than promised and you basically are made to feel insignificant- just another NHS number. Meanwhile, this NHS number is often sat at home crying in frustration and feeling anxious because she has no idea what is going on in her IVF cycle all due to lack of communication!
I wish I hadn't chosen to do my IVF with Guys, but at the time I began this process I was given no other option.
This is such a shame because the appalling lack of communication doesnt give a true reflection of the wonderful staff who work at the hospital when you meet them face to face (reception staff, and nurses during egg collection and transfer have been wonderful).
Well it has been 9 days now since I contacted guys about starting my second embryo transfer this-coming month, and despite emailing twice and ringing once I have still been unable to speak to anyone. Apparently my medication is being posted out to me for the embryo transfer (I discovered this when I checked my emails and had received an email from the FERTILITY COMPANY- NOTE, NOT THE HOSPITAL!), but when the man from the fertility company asked me over the phone when I was starting treatment, and enquired whether the correct fertility medication had been ordered i could only respond with 'I don't know as I haven't heard from the hospital'. Looks like (if I'm lucky) I'll be getting a few days notice at this rate to be informed that I need to start pumping my body full of drugs again. Thanks Guys!
Things needs to improve as many people who are going through this process are talking on Facebook groups and Guys will be getting a seriously bad reputation at this rate.
"Extremely poor communication from nurses at ACU..."
