"Excellent Treatment"

About: The Great Western Hospital / General surgery

I recently had a severe gall bladder episode and following investigation by my

GP was referred to the GWH. I was initially treated by the Endoscopy Unit and a stone blocking my bile duct was removed. Although everyone I had spoken to had said that gall stones were very painful I just experienced mild discomfort throughout so I consider myself very lucky. It was recommended that I had my gall bladder removed to limit the possibility of any repetition. This I agreed to and following consultations I was readmitted a couple of months later for the gall bladder removal. This went smoothly and just two weeks after the operation I am feeling fine.

Throughout my treatment both of the gall stone removal and removal of the actual gall bladder

I was kept fully informed of what the implications of the treatment were. My treatment and the caring attitude of all the staff was excellent. This was my first personal experience of a hospital environment and I can only say that despite a very busy and stressful environment everyone who dealt with me was caring and considerate. I could not have asked for better treatment. Thank you!
