I was absolutely amazed and full of praise re my OPD appointment with Karen the Specialist Physiotherapist.
She listened to my tale of woe, (Carpal Tunnel both wrists since 2017), made her assessment, judgement and diagnosis, and, with my consent, administered a cortisone injection to both wrists. Side effects explained, expected length of time for a result and a fast track telephone number to call to receive a repeat of the injection, if needed, within a 6 month period, as well as the opportunity to discuss any issues I may have had following the procedure performed.
I left the appointment and had been given some literature to take with me and read, along with the support of the telephone number to call in if I had any queries or problems.
She was absolutely amazing and I was totally shocked and very very happy as my long-standing issue had not only been listened to, but dealt with too, and all by the same person at the same time of my OPD appointment and all in a timely manner. Well done for the Orthopaedic Pathway, and this same patient, who walked out the door of the BGH leaving behind all of those pins and needles, lack of sleep and pain whilst driving a car ......AND with the reassurance, that if it returns at any point within a six month period, all I have to do is ring the dept.
Thanks to the knowledge, skills, understanding and treatment of the specially trained physiotherapist called Miss Karen Hughes, I was able, immediately, to return to a normal every-day-kind-of -life. I am thrilled with the care and attention given to me.
