"Lack of communication and follow up care gynaecology"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I had surgery in July this year, all I was told was everything went well. Discharged the following day

With pain killers. From July to date  I have been bleeding , have to go back to my GP for antibiotics twice since . I had my follow up review yesterday only to be told you lost a lot of blood and fluid  during surgery . No proper communication between doctors and patients.

This is really upsetting and frightening as nurse

I now I understand when patient complain about lack communication from health care  professionals about their care.

Dear Sika,

I am sorry to learn you have had the need to visit your GP on two occasions since your surgery. Furthermore I am sorry that your follow up appointment left you feeling that the communication around your surgery was insufficient. As a team here at Croydon University Hospital, we take your feedback very seriously and we are always looking for patient story’s to help us focus where we can do even better. I would value the opportunity to look into your case with you so that you feel listened to, cared for and have confidence in us as your healthcare team. Please do get in touch with your details if you would like to discuss your experience and so that I can feedback to the individuals involved in your care.

Kind regards

Ms Becky Board
