In February, 2018 I started getting chronic lower back, hip and leg pain that severely limited my movement. Having tried physiotherapy treatment backed up with very strong pain killers for almost a year unsuccessfully it was suggested that I might like to give hydrotherapy a try. After about four sessions at Arrol Park in Ayr with a physiotherapist we started to see minor improvement. I continued there for a few more weeks and then it was suggested that I could move on to Crosshouse Hospital as they had a hydrotherapy pool on site. The ongoing improvement has been fantastic. I am now able to stand up straight, walk for approximately one mile and best of all I have taken no pain killers now for almost four months.
I am aware that this will always be an ongoing problem for me as one disc has exploded and the base of my spine is crumbling, however, if I continue to regularly use any form of water therapy I should be able to maintain a quality of life I thought was totally lost to me for the foreseeable future.
I do feel that hydrotherapy should be more available to people with chronic back pain as for me it has been nothing short of a new lease of life
