I feel totally let down by NHS Fife and the treatment provided during my ongoing vision loss in one eye, due to a posterior subcapsular cataract that has developed rapidly.
Throughout my dealings with staff at QMH Dunfermline I have been left feeling a nuisance and detected little empathy or compassion from them with regard to my condition and their reply to my requests for information are usually met with reply of "this is a very busy clinic".
It is now the end of September. Three calendar months since my referral for cataract surgery. A phone call yesterday for a status update was the last straw. Still no dates available and probably looking at late November for availability. This on a supposed urgent referral!
I now feel left with no choice but to get finance and have it done privately due to the effect on my work and loss of earnings, not to mention the treatment I am now receiving for mental health issues because of the sight loss.
I would have done this back in June had I known how NHS Fife would treat me.
