"Absolutely wonderful at such a worrying time"

About: St James's University Hospital

I am unsure if I am leaving this review on the correct page but I can’t seem to find a section for J24- women’s health ward but I just needed to leave a review so here goes.

I first attended this ward on Sunday after being referred down by my GP for bleeding in early pregnancy. I was welcomed onto the ward and made to feel at ease straight away, I taken to a side room and a lovely nurse checked my observations. Shortly after arriving I saw a Doctor who was so understanding and reassuring and explained everything fully to myself and my partner. She involved us fully in decisions about next steps etc. And we felt safe and happy under her care. I was found to have an ectropium on my cervix causing the bleeding (nothing to do with the baby thank goodness). I had the treatment required there and then and was sent home the same day. The next day I unfortunately suggested more bleeding so had to go back down, once again the staff were so kind and caring. The wait was rather long this day but I would have waited all night if i’d have had too, I saw a different doctor this time who was similar to the first one, very kind and reassured me. I was booked in to attend for an early pregnancy scan the following day and sent home. I attended today for my scan and thankfully baby is absolutely fine. The sonographer and nurses I saw today were again wonderful and so professional but still able to have a proper conversation with you and a laugh and a joke. I honestly can’t thank J24 for all they have done for myself, my partner and our future baby! As lovely as you all are we hopefully won’t have to see any of you again! Thank you again for your amazing care.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us with your wonderful and kind comments.

I am very happy to read that we the care you received throughout your treatment with us was efficient and professional and that you felt reassured by the staff at such a worrying time.

I have taken the liberty of sharing your words of support and encouragement with the matron for Women's Services and asked they are shared with all the team. I know that all the staff will be delighted to know they delivered the care that met all your expectations.

Please let me also take to congratulate you.

Once Again, thank you so much for taking the time to write to us.

With kindest regards
