"Mother is very distressed"

About: Darent Valley Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a relative),

My mother has not long to live unfortunately the palliative team suggested options ie a hospice and other options. I originally chose a hospice thinking that she would be fast tracked there are no beds available. Ive phoned the office of the team every day no response no call back only told when I push the matter with the nurse. My mother is sore and distressed she has been crying when I said to the nurse she is uncomfortable I was told we have just changed her and adjusted everything what do you want me to do about it and eventually she was given pain relief. The food is not suitable for her shes not eating and we are left trying to sort something for her to eat. Everyday I see her getting worse the care is not suitable for her the nurses are overstretched I know most are doing there best but some have a attitude problem. Iam at the end of my tether now the system is too slow, something needs to be done and quick. I am now trying to sort out care myself if I was informed that a place at a hospice might be quite a wait I could of done something sooner as it is it seems we are running out of time to get my mother the right care all because the communication is lacking.
