My husband has been diagnosed with a 3. 5cm Acoustic Neuroma on the right side. Consultants have advised surgery is the only option which was scheduled for next week. However, after receiving two injections in his ear drum to begin the deterioration of the balance nerve as well as attending his pre op assessment, the surgeon’s secretary has called today to tell him his surgery has been cancelled with absolutely no indication of what will happen now. This is absolutely unacceptable as he has arranged with his work to be off for 3-6 months due to his recovery. We have 2 young children to accommodate so family members have taken time off their own work to help us out and I have my own work commitments that had been arranged around his recovery so I could still be around to be his main carer. There has been absolutely no information given to us and my husband is deeply upset by this, especially given he is walking around with a golf ball sized tumour in his head and no indication as to when it will be removed!
