Visiting Ayr. Grandson became unwell with cold and laboured breathing. Attended Ayr hospital early hours of Sunday morning and was seen very quickly and staff were excellent. Some meds prescribed, but was sent on to Crosshouse to see Paediatric specialist.
On arrival was admitted to A&E whilst waiting for bed in ward. A&E staff were very attentive. After a short time we were taken to ward by a very pleasant porter. Immediately on arrival we were made to feel very welcome, a cot bed was allocated and we were given lots of toast and a drink. Very welcome after being on the go since 5.30 a.m.
The nursing staff/nursing assistants could not have been kinder and were very clear and concise about what would happen as several tests were done on my grandson. We were seen by the Paediatric Nurse Specialist who, again, was very kind and explained what would be prescribed and why. All in all our experience in the ward was made so much easier by the whole staff team. On discharge a few hours later, I felt completely reassured that the right course of action had been taken and that I could contact them at any time should I feel the need. Many thanks to all involved in my grandson’s care.
"I felt completely reassured"
