"Stroke"

About: Coathill Hospital Lanarkshire Community Services / Adult Speech and Language Therapy University Hospital Wishaw / General Medicine (Wards 5 & 8) University Hospital Wishaw / Stroke Unit (Ward 11)

(as the patient),

In May 2018 I had a stroke, which changed my whole life and also my husband's.

The care and support I have received from the NHS has been fantastic. I.e. Ambulance crew, doctors, nurses, speech and language therapy, stroke nurses and support workers, psychiatrist, occupation therapist etc.( Hope I haven't missed anybody out).

All these people have contributed and some still do in making it possible for me to live my life to my full potential.

Joanne, SLT Advanced Practitioner has especially been a godsend as my speech was affected by the stroke. Her strategies that she put in place made me more determined to improve my speech to the best of my ability and more.

All in all I believe that these services were and still are a vital part of my road to recovery. I really don't know where I would have been without them.

So I can't thank the NHS enough for their care and support, throughout.
