I have a long standing history of anxiety which can be quite crippling at times. I had received CBT previously in the community, delivered by a CPN. I didn't find this particularly helpful in alleviating my anxiety symptoms. Therefore, I was cynical about how successful this round of CBT would be. Especially as it was to be delivered by a trainee Psychologist.
I have been very pleasantly surprised at how much my CBT has helped this time. The Psychologist, Rachel, is a very understanding individual. She excels at active listening, and is very easy to talk to. I found it very easy to disclose my thoughts and feelings relating to my anxiety. Her delivery of mindfulness, and thought challenging, was very professional, well-explained, and personalised to my needs. The first session I had with Rachel, I was off work, depressed, and experiencing very low self-esteem. Since then, over a period of around three months, I have re-found my self-esteem/self-confidence. I have become very proficient at applying what she has taught me to my daily anxieties/negative thinking style. I feel like a totally different person, and I can't thank her enough for all of her help. I wish her all the best with the remainder of her training, and career.
