My Grandpa had a Bone Marrow Biopsy at the Chatsfield Suite and was called in to have a blood transfusion 2 days later because he had a low results.
A wonderful Specialist Healthcare Assistant called Lisa greeted us and spent time getting to know us - which really set the essence for what to expect on/from the Chatsfield Suite. My Grandpa’s named nurse that day was Jennifer who was knowledgable and very informative which was able to my Grandpa at ease. Nurse Jade came to help with the transfusion at times and Jade’s bedside manner was brilliant - I could tell my Grandpa was worried and she was able to relax my Grandpa and make him laugh.
As a Grandchild I had concerns about his health and felt that we were listened to with not just an empathetic ear but the Nurses Jennifer and Jade were able to action our concerns by getting us a Specialist Haemotologist Nurse - Katie to speak to who gave us support with numbers to ring and advice on what to look out for once at home.
Overall, the Chatsfield Suite was a lovely experience and this was due to the Staffs care and compassion. We left feeling positive and listened to and Grandpa left with a smile on his face.
