I had a post cancer breast reconstruction operation at the end of February & the wound refused to heal & became necrotic. I was under the Royal Marsden in Fulham but they said I could get dressings changed ( every day for first couple of months) at my local hospital, Teddington Memorial, to save me driving up to Fulham more than once a week for a check up.
I had to do this, getting gradually less frequent, for4 months and during that time I was looked after beyond my wildest expectations.
This is a very busy & vital drop in centre but I was never ever made to feel in any way a nuisance. My most regular nurse was an absolute angel called Celia ( badge said Cecilia but she prefers the former!) McLintock, who was so gentle, efficient & knew exactly how to treat it...even my consultant was impressed by her diligence...and she was a real joy; I began to actually look forward to going.
I want to also commend two other brilliant ladies who helped me when Celia unavailable or busy...Julie & Teresa. They were all so warm & caring as well as being ridiculously patient under pressure & always smiling.
I meant to do this in June straight away, but my notebook went missing in the RM hospital & has only just been found & returned.
I do hope someone reads this & they get to know what a difference they all made to my recovery as they were so special.
"Post op dressings & the great nurses who looked after me."
