"I would like to see more activities"

About: Rampton Hospital / Mental Health Service

(as the patient),

I am on Blake ward. To be more caring I would like a tread Mill, they got the go ahead to order one. Also I would like to see more activities and Planned sessions, more visits for Patients from Families. Also get Staff that want to be on the ward mentor the staff that seem like they don't want to be here. To be responsive we need to move on faster..

Hi, Thankyou for your posting. I understand how important activities and planned sessions are to you and am sorry that these have not been happening as often as you would like. The Therapies and Education Department are currently recruiting into many areas including all Day Units and Vocational areas. This will hopefully mean that your timetabled sessions could increase and there will be more opportunities for you to get off the ward to meaningful activity.

Kind regards
Sue

Thanks for this. We all agree that activities are really important for your recovery. As Sue says, TED is currently recruiting into many areas including all day units and vocational areas.

Best wishes.

HI, firsly thank you for participating in this peice of work so we can have a better understanding of your experience and how we can make life in the hospital more pleasant.

I believe you have a treadmill on the ward now and this should support your health and wellbeing. I do hope you also use the facilities in the main gym.

We have some ideas of how we support a more meaningful day for patients on the wards and once we have these transferred in to a plan we will be sharing with staff and patients and we hope you will be pleased with the outcome.

We are also looking a better ways to facilitate family and friend visits and this will be discussed with patients at the patient council and again we hope this will welcomed by the patients in the hospital.

Lots of work is being undertaken for recruitment and retention of staff and we are pleased with the progress and outcome. We still have work to do as we learn from the feedback from staff and patients experience. We are really please patients are involved in our recruitment process and believe this is welcomed by those involved.

Once I have read and responded to all these posting ( over 50 I believe) I will collate the themes and produce a quality improvement plan so you can see your voice has been heard and hopefully see how this translates to action and genuine involvement

Thank you

Adele Fox
