"Waiting times"

About: The James Cook University Hospital

Finally got a appointment on the 1st May 2019I (I had been sent around the block, physio different people in the Friariage Hospital, until nearly two years later it was decided what the problem was, so an appointment was made, with the right person) I was seen almost as son as I walked. The Surgeon was very charming, explained everything about the operation I was to have. He said the waiting time was 8 months, as I was/am in a lot of pain and unable to walk very far, and I don't trust myself to drive, due to pain and medication. ( this in effect makes me house bound) I was shocked at the waiting time, he then said it might be earlier, if another surgeon has some free time. I telephoned my Surgeons

Secretary 2nd July, to ask when my op'; might be. She went away to check, came back with the reply 'Not this side of Christmas)' When I asked how long after Christmas, I was told it was a long list, I was way down, so couldn't say, she then explained they were cancelling ops., all the time because lack of beds. they had already cancelled two that week., it was only Wednesday. I am on two lots of medication I will have to be weened off, and fear the longer I am on them, the longer it will take to come off them. I had to wait nearly 3 months after my referral . I was on the under standing that waiting time, from referral were a lot less than I am told I will have to wait. ( 11/12 month even if I had my op., in January 2020 which sounded very unlikely).
