"Accident and Emergency care and GUM Clinic Service"

About: Ealing Hospital / Accident and emergency

I recently had an HIV scare which meant I needed to attend Ealing hospital AnE service and then the GUM clinic for follow up appointments. Initially upon entering AnE I was dealt with by the reception staff who wee very sensitive to the subject and realised quickly I was anxious. They allowed me to speak with a nurse to the side of the main reception and the nurse dealt with matters in a discreet way throughout. I went straight through to triage where I was assessed and fast tracked through the process, the care was time sensitive, and this again was dealt with care and respect. The nurses and doctors made me feel supported and at no point did I feel judged. I cannot say enough about that!!! Thankyou.

I then had to have follow up appointments at the GUM clinic. Again, the staff were just so lovely through out. I would say that the nurses I have had contact with have been nothing short of a delight to have contact with. I work in the healthcare services and know the strain people are under.... to still do the job and be sensitive and polite is a real credit.

Was was particularly good was the manner in which nurses explained the processes and walked me through what needed to happen. As can be imagined, this can be a difficult time and I can say, were anyone to be in my situation I would recommend Ealing Hospital GUM clinic without a second thought.

Following this visit I actually had to go back for an unrelated issue, I thought I had broken my ankle. Off to AnE again, early hours of a Monday morning. The staff were just perfect. Reception staff were cheery and we had a laugh as I booked in. The nurses took me throw the processes and I had an x-ray and out of the department within an hour.

Overall I want to extend my thanks to all the staff I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Your jobs are not easy and in this climate t is easy to get disheartened but I promise, people do appreciate your hard work and I for one would just simply like to say. Thank you.

I would really appreciate it if my compliment to the staff could be sent round so those staff on the floor get to hear and see what people appreciate them.

Dear Dan

Thank you very much for your feedback about the care you have received from our A&E and GUM teams at Ealing Hospital.

It is great to hear how well and how sensitively you were looked after during your treatment in both departments and I am very grateful to you for letting us know in such detail how good the treatment you received was.

I will most certainly make sure that the staff in both areas are made aware of your kind words. While a lot of our colleagues are working in sometimes strenuous circumstances, you are right to point out that there is no substitute for politeness when caring for patients and this does make a huge difference.

I am sure the staff in A&E and in the GUM service will greatly appreciate your sentiments and thank again for taking the time highlight the good care you have received.

Kind regards

Peter Hare
