"like a Brian Rix farce"

About: Broomfield Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

I cannot believe the total shambles of the hospital. I know that NHS get sometimes a rough deal, but this place needs a hugs shake-up. What I write here is factual and true, although I don’t believe that this review will be published as they only want good reviews!

Starting with being nil by mouth from 5am for morning surgery.

Didn’t go down until 3.30pm due to the metalwork needed not being at the hospital and therefore having to be couriered from Braintree.

That meant one very dehydrated patient.

Then lost a lot of blood, but as it was borderline they decided not to transfuse.

Very low bp after operation, so kept in recovery for around 3 hours.

Nobody thought about notifying the very anxious wife, who was trying to get information.

Then next day , with VERY low bp they give bp tablets out.

Make patient drink and drink, not even thinking about the dehydration of day before.

Consequently kidneys not happy, patient unable to even sit up due to bp falling drastically every time head up, not pain relief prescribed despite long conversation with doctor, and very very weak and dizzy.

Fast track on to day 4 ( not fast for the family who had to battle for everything it seems) . Wound badly leaking, doctor called at urgent, but NO doctor came al night.

So had to lie in bloody wet bed!

The left arm had no idea what the right arm is doing.

Individuals are lovely, but there is no picture being put together and consequently the service is appalling.

Seems that family have to get involved for anything to happen.
