"#hellomynameis"

About: Glasgow Dental Hospital and School / Dental

(as the patient),

I have been under the care of glasgow dental hospital for the last 7 years and cannot fault the care and quality of treatment.

I attended recently for a routine post op appointment with the consultant and orthodontist, however neither of them introduced themselves on arrival. Whilst I have met the consultant before a couple of years prior, I had not been treated by the orthodontist. As an allied health professional I am a strong believer in the #hellomynameis campaign and am disappointed that this does not appear to have reached the dental hospital. It is a basic skill and would help put patients at ease, especially those who wouldn’t interrupt the staff to ask who they are!

Please look into the benefits of #hellomynameis !

Dear SBT1989,

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your recent experience at Glasgow Dental Hospital. I have discussed this with Raymond Carruthers Operational Manager who was disappointed to hear that our clinical staff did not introduce themselves to you. This is fundamental to setting the conditions for a good care experience and putting patients at ease. As a result, Raymond has shared this with his team leads today to reinforce the need for this to take place.

I have also discussed the 'hello my name is' which we use in all other parts of Regional Services and asked that this is raised at the next Senior Manager Team meeting for discussion and introduction within Primary and Secondary Oral Health Care.

I was pleased to read that the care and quality of your treatment over the past 7 years has been positive and wish you well for any continued treatment.

Regards

Elaine Burt
