"Too many locums"

About: Mildmay Medical Practice

I have been with the surgery for some time. At this present time I feel there are far too many locum Doctors so you never see the same Doctor twice.

Before, you were allocated your main Doctor. It feels like a temping agency to be honest. I think the recruitment needs to be sorted and regular consistency of care.

We are pleased to let you know that the practice appointed two new salaried GPs from 1st September - Dr Karl Roberts and Dr Shona Biggart. They are both building up their lists of regular patients. In common with most GPs they work part time - 5 and 4 sessions per week respectively - on regular days each week. This is an important step in being able to improve on continuity of care for our patients. We have other GPs who also provide regular sessions at the practice, including Dr Shoba Poduval (a fellow from UCL), Dr Ajay Bassi and Dr Richard Dawson. This means that ad hoc locum GPs are primarily employed to cover GPs when they are on leave or attending important meetings and courses.
