About: University Hospital Monklands / General Medicine (Wards 2,10,12 and 17)

(as a service user),

I have been a patient within the Dyalisis ward for several years  , The comfort of the patient going through 4/5 hours of treatment is paramount , not in the case of this particular Dept as several complaints re air conditioning and freezing conditions have been ignored ,it is a sad state of affairs when weekly you are forced to endure these conditions.

Many thanks for your post on Care Opinion.

I was disappointed to hear that several patients have complained about the temperature and being uncomfortable during treatment in the Dialysis Unit. A patient did bring this to the attention of the Patient Affairs Department last week and the Senior Charge Nurse reviewed this alongside our Estates Department colleagues. We have decreased the temperature of the air conditioning unit and we will monitor how this is over the coming week as we need to consider the needs of the patients and staff.

It is also my intention to carry out another Patient Satisfaction Survey in the Dialysis Units over the next 3 months to get some feedback from patients and I will include the temperature of the environment in the survey.

The situation over months has not been resolved,and patients are suffering along with staff may add. In my opinion the surveys of the past have proved pointless. Why not simple come around and ask patients first hand, no more time delays get the situation resolved now. I think the situation is being poorly handled and is unacceptable.
