"Hygiene is of paramount importance"

About: Heartlands Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

My husband was admitted to ward 20. When another patient moved to another ward, I watched them clean the bed with wipes for next patient. I queried with a nurse, did they not steam clean the bed and change curtains on this ward. To which the reply was, "oh we are not that posh on this ward". To say I was flabbergasted was an understatement. Since when did "poshness '  come into hygiene. I have witnessed first hand the level of hygiene on ward 19. So why should my husband be subjected to a lower level of it on the ward next door. He has an infection, surely hygiene is of paramount importance in any eventuality and we should expect the same standard on all wards. I put in a request for him to be moved to ward 19, to receive the level of hygiene he was used to.
