Given the lack of notice I half-expected I would not be able to see a GP today.
Luckily, the reception team (friendly and helpful) were able to squeeze me in at the Elmwood Surgery at Barwick.
As I arrived, the receptionist said there may be a delay due to an earlier emergency.
I was OK but, as it happens, there was barely a delay.
The GP was very polite, considerate and helpful and, although I may need to return in a week or so, I felt very reassured by the GP's examination and the advice he provided.
And, whilst I am not a frequent attender of the Practice's 3 surgeries, I have always received excellent care regardless of the relentless pressure on the NHS and on the Practice staff at all levels.
To me, the GP Practice is the epitome of what good healthcare is about.
