"False diagnosis of miscarriage"

About: Good Hope Hospital / General medicine

(as a service user),

After spending 6 hours waiting in A&E after a small bleed I was seen by a very rude doctor in the GAU ward who told me I had almost certainly miscarried, without even scanning me, and that my cervix was open. They then sent us home with no advice other than ‘if you get any pain, manage it in the usual ways’.

Went for a scan days later only to be told both of these diagnoses were incorrect - my cervix was closed and baby was doing fine! We had a horrific few days thinking we’d lost our first baby.

Dear Lewisr

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post your experience in our A&E GAU ward at Good Hope Hospital. I am very concerned to read your comments and would like to reassure you that the Trust take seriously the issues that you have raised.

Could I please ask you to contact us on 0121 424 0808 or email uhb-tr.Complaints-ConcernsandCompliments@nhs.net so that we can obtain some more information in order for us to look into this for you.

Kind regards
