"My wee sister"

About: Kilbryde Hospice

(as a relative),

My wee sister's diagnosis on the third of January was such a shock to everyone and as her older sister I just wanted to make everything right for her. We shared a bedroom growing up and were the best of friends into adulthood along with our wee brother.

I spoke to her early on about Kilbryde Hospice but she wasn't ready to consider it as she had to have a major operation before any treatment could begin and she was hopeful. Unfortunately, things deteriorated rapidly and we had to watch her endure two major operations in a large Glasgow Hospital. The day she was transferred home we had the discussion about Kilbryde Hospice again and I went straight up and met Lizanne who listened to everything that had happened, and we agreed to refer her for home complimentary therapies.

Sine came out to assess her but again things progressed rapidly and she was admitted before she had any home visits. I cannot tell you what a relief this was to all her family after the lack of basic care we had witnessed at the hospital. Every single member of the medical staff, clinical services, pastoral care, receptionists, catering and housekeeping staff played a part in helping all of our family the three weeks she was there and treated my sister with the care, compassion and respect she deserved and I will be forever grateful to you all. We have been fundraising for the Hospice and will continue to do so as we want to help other families who desperately need the love and care shown to us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, xx

Dear My Wee Sister,

May I take this opportunity to offer my gratitude that you have taken the time to provide your thanks for the care which your sister received here at Kilbryde Hospice.

It is very clear how you wished to ensure that she was receiving the very best of care. I am thankful that the various teams which you mention ensured the provision of the highest level of care not only to your dear sister but to you as a loving sister and of course to the rest of the family.

It is our privilege to offer the compassionate, respectful care which you describe during the most difficult of times and I will ensure that this gratitude is shared across the various departments within the Hospice.

Your appreciation will indeed allow the team here to continue in their drive to ensure that the highest standard of care continues.

On behalf of our Fundraising Team may I thank you for the wonderful support in raising funds which allow us to continue to provide our specialist services.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Hospice for any further advice, guidance or support at this very difficult time.

Kind Regards,

Ann Majella McFadden
