About: General practices in Lanarkshire

(as the patient),

I have been attending the Stonelaw Practice in Rutherglen for many years and I just want to thank all the staff.

The doctors, nurses, advanced nurse practitioners, pharmacists, health care assistants and receptionists are all first class and a credit to their professions.

They are pleasant, polite, helpful, kind, caring, professional and always have time for me. The appointment system is very efficient and same day appointments are a great idea.

They go the extra mile and are a great team.

Thank you all once again!

Believe me,I have seen the very best and the very worst in the NHS in recent years and I feel that if a patient is willing to complain when things go wrong then they should also congratulate when things go very well, bearing in mind, of course, that we expect a high standard at all times!

It is my pleasure to make these remarks. I do make sure I thank the staff when I am there as I know all about the importance of small kindnesses every day-they make all the difference, especially in difficult situations, of which I am sure there are many.

All doctors have the same medicine but some staff make people feel better .. Never underestimate the power of kindness, even when no medicine will help, a kind word or gesture will.

You're so right. I'll offer you a quote which I've used with colleagues in reflective sessions from Maya Angelou who was an American poet, memoirist and civil rights activist:

“I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”.
