"Outstanding care and treatment"

About: Burton Hospital / Maternity care

I cannot express the amount of gratitude I have for every single member of staff and the safe delivery of my daughter. Post delivery I fell ill unknown to me, however the midwives who were in charge of my care were quick to react and got me in to theatre. I lost a huge volume of blood and required a manual removal of my placenta. When in theatre I noticed there were over ten healthcare professionals within the proximity. All focused on one task, to ensure my health and well being were to the highest standard. During the procedure I was continually kept well informed of what was going on, thank-you to the amazing healthcare assistant who was by my side and kept me updated. Fortunately the procedure was successful and I was able to go back to the delivery ward afterwards. Upon my return I was met with two midwives who informed me that they would be taking close care of me for the next 24-48 hours due to the nature of my delivery. I was numb from the waist down once I got back in my room. I was catheterised and on complete bed rest. The midwife who was present in my room showed me my baby, after not having seen her since delivery. Thank-you for supporting my mum and husband. Thank-you for providing a bottle of baby milk. Thank-you for changing my sanitary towels. Thank-you to the amazing medical team who got me through the procedure and came to see me at 5pm in the evening after finishing from your theatre duties. Thank-you to the midwives who came in to my room every 1-2 hours to check up on me and my baby. Thank-you for your support in helping me to attempt breastfeeding. Thank-you for letting me and my husband sleep whilst you held her every few hours. Thank-you for changing her nappy. Thank-you for dressing her. Thank-you for helping me to reposition myself every few hours, so I’d be comfortable. Thank-you for helping me to have a shower. Thank-you for providing me with pain relief. Thank-you for not rushing me. Thank-you for showing me how to bathe my baby. Thank-you for your constant vigilance and attention to detail. Thank-you for helping me to strap her safely in to her car seat. Thank-you for a timely and efficient discharge. Lastly, thank-you for your endless love and passion. Your hard work and care will forever be remembered. I owe my life to you.
