"Allowed me to meet people in a similar situation"

About: Dirrans Centre (including rehab)

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

After an accident I was left with serious mobility issues, I fell off a ladder while cleaning windows and had a traumatic brain injury. Following my discharge from hospital I was left feeling isolated and lonely, this carried on for some time until I was visited by an Occupational Therapist(O.T.) who suggested I visit the Dirrans Centre.

The Dirrans Centre allowed me to meet people in a similar situation to my own and not feel as if I was being judged on my disability.

The service has allowed me to have days out , short breaks and gives me the opportunity to have access to other services, I have met lots of people I now regard as friends. As a result of this I now volunteer for other groups including a chest heart and stroke group in my local community.
