"Hairmyres Hospital"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiac Catherterisation University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiology

(as a relative),

My Nana had a massive heart attack a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, we had to wait an hour for an ambulance but when it arrived the technicians/paramedics were absolutely amazing! ! They took her straight to the cath lab (even though shes 92) where they carried out an angioplasty. Throughout the procedure a nurse kept us updated regularly. She had a short stay in CCU then was transferred to ward 9. Every single member of staff was fantastic and she was looked after so well. The OT was also fantastic and organised a much higher level of care to allow her to get home. My nana would like to thank every single person who helped her. Our entire family are so thankful

Dear Alisonmac78,

It is always wonderful to hear praise for our staff in the NHS especially as we enjoy delivering care on a daily basis. I thank you for the comment in relation to Occupational therapy staff and I have already forwarded this to them. They are delighted to know that they may have made a difference to your Nana's stay in hospital and her discharge back home.

I wish your Nana well in her continued recovery.

Many thanks

Helen

Dear Alisonmac78

Thank you so much for taking the time to contact us via Care Opinion.

While having to see your 92 year old nana go through such a traumatic experience would be terrifying for you all, it is satisfying to know that our teams were able to provide such excellent healthcare for her when she needed it. All of our teams strive to provide the best patient centred care possible and outcomes like this make it all worthwhile.

I will pass on your kind words to all the staff in the Cath Lab, CCU and also in ward 9 to let them know how thankful you all are. Your gratitude will be very much appreciated.

I am delighted to hear your nana has made such a good recovery, and long may it continue.

Best wishes for the future for you and your nana

Hazel
