I brought my husband into A&E as his “whiplash” from a crash whilst banger racing wasn’t improving. Following an X-ray and two CT scans it was revealed that he had an unstable fracture to C2 (Hangman’s fracture). All the staff from triage through to the three doctors/consultant, during our experience, were amazing! They took it seriously and our waiting times were very good.
We spent much of the time on one of the four central beds where we felt like we were in the way all the time but staff insisted that we were absolutely fine as they worked round us. Within 9 hours of arriving we were transferred to QMC where he was eventually put into a Halo collar and is now 3 weeks into a 12 week treatment plan. We would like to send our appreciation to all the staff involved in his care during that shift please. Thank you.
"Walking into A&E with a broken neck!"
