I was diagnosed with early stage Prostate cancer in January of 2019.; This followed preliminary investigation through Kendrick Urology but as soon as diagnosis was confirmed I was placed under the care of RBH. They were fantastic. I quickly saw Urology, and had a bone scan at Oncology and follow up appointments. I was a low risk case, found early, so was monitored for several months while we had a walking holiday.
July came around and I had the pre-op meeting which was so thorough and detailed it gave me great confidence to move forward. Honestly I was really impressed. The day of admission arrived and it went so smoothly is an understatement. Procedure at 2 pm, back on the ward by 5 pm, fed at 6 pm and up and walking by 7 pm. The care I received was outstanding. Discharged by 2pm the next day. It was really a wonderful experience at a time in your life when you are very apprehensive. Nursing and surgical staff were wonderful. I cannot rate my experience highly enough. Even the food was good, and Hopkins Ward have their own kitchen so breakfast is prepared individually by the staff on the ward, who could ask for better? All I can say is that the whole journey from diagnosis to treatment and now in recovery was exemplary.I don't know what my future holds as it's early days but this hospital was wonderful and I cannot rate it highly enough when I know the NHS come under such pressure. They were fantastic!!
