I presented to GP with a history or rectal bleeding of several months duration...as you do having tried to heal oneself.
I was fortunate in receiving a cancellation appointment for my first investigation. Terrified, but with the test completed with support and reassurance from the team , who I cannot fault, I retuned home to wait a colonoscopy to remove a found polyp and for biopsy results.
Eight weeks later I receive a letter from a consultant whom I have never met or heard of informing me that I the biopsy had shown high grade changes, I wait for colonoscopy and after that they would meet and discuss any needs.
Absolutely terrified. I only have 'google' to give advice on what this means.: Cells that can become cancerous.
An anxious and distressing visit to GP has reassured me slightly in that 'if anything severe' you would have been fast tracked for return.
I have phoned the waiting list team and am now told that the target list for returns is for 12 weeks but that this is not being met. Distressing that I have a wait for a 'cell changing bowel polyp to be removed with no indication of time span.
Why send a letter with no forewarning?
Why the long delay?
Why no contact from waiting list team and that I had to phone them?
